PSMGA History Highlights

1988 - Founded by Leonard Sloan - monthly tournament at Plano Municipal Golf Course
1991 - First group of elected officers; 103 members
1992 - 2nd monthly tournament commenced, played at Chase Oaks Sawtooth Course; first
            By-Laws approved in August
1993 - Steve Heidelberg introduced at quarterly membership meeting, new head professional
1994 - Membership at 241; 2 monthly tournaments: Plano Muni and Chase Oaks Blackjack;
            tournaments changed to shotgun starts with carts mandatory due to number of players
1995 - Two special play tournaments at Plantation Golf Course and Los Rios Country Club
1996 - Plano Muni renamed Pecan Hollow Golf Course
1997 - 24 tournaments at Pecan Hollow; 12 at Twin Creeks; and 3 at Chase Oaks
1999 - Membership grows to more than 250.
2000 - Pecan Hollow used for 27 tournaments annually with 3-6 at various other courses.
2003 - Inaugural Ryder Cup-style tournament between PSMGA and Ridgeview Ranch.Senior
            Golf Assn, dubbed the "Senior Cup" won by PSMGA
2004 - 2nd Senior Cup won by PSMGA
2006 - Tournament schedule expanded to 47 tournaments exclusively at Pecan Hollow
2007 - Berle Barnett Joined PSMGA
2008 - Thursday tournament started using Gold Tees, tee times used and cash payouts
2010 - PH closes in December for year-long renovation; PSMGA moves to Los Rios
            Golf Course for tournament play.
2011 - 1st PSMGA Tournament on the renovated course, Monday, Oct 31
2012 - Webpage created to recognize annual winners of tournaments and CTP.

2017 - New golf carts equipped with GPS range displays arrive in Nov
2018 -
2019 - Wayene Mooneyhan designs online  tournament signup using Google Forms
2020 - March 12, Final tournament (Gold Tee) Pecan Hollow closed due to COVID-19.
2021 - PSMGA resumes in January, after 9 1/2 months away, but only Monday tournaments
